Recognizing the diverse and often special needs of individuals, this workshop unites various cartography experts with specialists from fields like education, neurobiology, and sociology to address the crucial question of how well current mapmaking conventions truly serve the cognitive abilities and diverse backgrounds of map readers. The workshop aims to bridge this gap through introductory lectures on inclusive design principles followed by practical exercises, ultimately striving to develop general guidelines for creating maps that are user-centered and ensure no one is excluded, echoing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Join us on 17 August for the Towards maps for everyone workshop. The workshop is scheduled for 15:45-19:15 local time and is free to conference attendees. Those wishing to only join the conference can expect to pay CA$35.
