About Me
Tom Babinszki, born totally blind in Hungary, has been involved with accessibility for the last 25 years, helping corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations. In the mid 1990's, he put together the first electronic library for blind people in Hungary. During his high school years, with his classmates he put together the first Hungarian braille printer, which won an innovation award. In 2008 he trained the first blind accessibility consultants in South-East Asia. From 2010, he build a center for entrepreneurship for blind and visually impaired people at the Hadley School for the Blind. In the first three years, the center had served over 500 students. From 2016, Tom built the IBM corporate accessibility training program both on-sight and online, which became mandatory for all employees. In 2021, Tom was invited to serve as a vice president of accessibility at eSSENTIAL Accessibility. Today he works as a digital accessibility consultant. In recent years, he assembled a group of designers and creates 3D printed objects such as buildings, maps and replicas, to enhance the education of blind people. In his free time, Tom is a coin collector challenging the possibilities of collecting without vision, and he is also an expert of tactile currency.
