Waldirene Ribeiro do Carmo is a geographer who graduated from USP, Brazil, where she also earned her master’s and PhD in sciences (physical geography). She is the researcher in charge of the Laboratory of Geography Education and Teaching Materials at the Geography Department of the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Literature, and Human Sciences at USP. She is also a collaborating researcher at the Center for Tactile Cartography at the Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana in Santiago, Chile. She served ICA’s Commission on Maps and Graphics for Blind and Partially Sighted People as cochair from 2011 to 2019 and as chair from 2019 to 2023.
